A dramatic renovation was undertaken ahead of the 138th Open Golf Championship in July 2009. Working alongside interior designer Mary Fox Linton, the 103-year-old hotel was restored to the vision of its original architect while accommodating the needs of the modern guest. Custom chandeliers were designed for the project with Tom Kirk and Chelsom Lighting.
